No Ban List Modern banned cards tier list

Could you make a tier list of the most played cards that are still currently banned in modern, that were played in noban list modern on mtgo ?

I don't see a "No Ban List Modern" format in the available formats. Let me check if it's tracked under a different name in the database, and also look for what cards are currently banned in Modern to cross-reference.

Good — MTGO is a source. Now I need to find if there are any "No Ban List" tournaments on MTGO in the database. Let me search for those specifically and also get the current Modern ban list to cross-reference.

The database doesn't contain No Ban List Modern events — only regular Modern, Legacy, Pioneer, etc. Let me confirm by searching more broadly for any non-standard tournament names on MTGO.

I can give you a definitive answer now. Unfortunately, I don't have No Ban List (NBL) Modern data in my database. The MTGO tournaments I track are standard sanctioned events: Modern Challenges, Qualifiers, Showcase events, etc. — all played under the normal Modern ban list.

No Ban List Modern was a special MTGO format event run a few times in the past (most notably in 2023), but those events are not part of the dataset I have access to.

To answer your question properly, I'd need NBL tournament decklists in my database. Without that data, I can't build a data-backed tier list of the most-played banned cards from those events — and my rules prevent me from guessing.

What you could do instead:

  • Check MTGO's official decklists directly at mtgo.com for the specific NBL events
  • Sites like 17lands, Moxfield, or MTGGoldfish may have archived NBL event coverage
  • The Eternal Weekend / Community "No Ban List" Discord servers sometimes aggregate this data

If Wizards ever runs more NBL events and the data gets added to my database, I'd be happy to run that analysis! 🧙
